Google Is First Target of New NPE Brite Smart in Pay-Per-Click Suit
Four patents are at issue in a suit filed by new NPE Brite Smart against Google. The patents-in-suit all relate to determining legitimacy of clicks in a pay-per-click system (7,249,104, 7,953,667, 8,326,763, 8,671,057). Google’s Adsense product, which uses pay-per-click, is accused of infringing the patents-in-suit. All four of the asserted patents were developed by Brite Smart presumably at a time when it was in operation; the entity does not currently appear to make or sell any products or services. Brite Smart’s address is also shared by Patent Group LLC, an entity that filed more than 20 cases between 2010 and 2011. This is the first suit filed by Brite Smart. 7/10, Eastern District of Texas, 2:14cv00760
