CDR Printing Files Two More Complaints in the Wake of Multiple Dismissals
In the wake of multiple recent dismissals, CDR Printing LLC (CDR), a subsidiary of Empire IP LLC, has filed two additional cases, asserting the same patent (7,271,929) against Aldi (2:16-cv-00029) and The Pep Boys (2:16-cv-00030). The ‘929 patent is generally related to creating, delivering, and updating a document with dynamic content. Throughout this campaign, which began in July 2014, defendants’ websites and/or printing services have been targeted.

CDR Printing Files a Fourth Wave of Suits
CDR Printing LLC (CDR) has filed a fourth wave of suits in its ongoing litigation campaign asserting a single patent (7,271,929) generally related to creating, delivering, and updating a document with dynamic content. The new defendants are Bank of America (2:15-cv-01566), BestBuy (2:15-cv-01568), DSW (2:15-cv-01569), and Wells Fargo (2:15-cv-01567). Throughout the campaign, defendants’ websites and/or printing services have been targeted.

Following Termination of PTAB Proceedings, CDR Printing Adds New Defendants to Its Campaign
After recent termination of both an IPR and CBM review of its 7,271,929 patent, CDR Printing LLC, an Empire IP LLC subsidiary, asserted the patent in new suits against Barnes & Noble (2:15-cv-01280), Starbucks (2:15-cv-01282), Target (2:15-cv-01281), and Time Warner Cable (2:15-cv-01279). CDR began litigating the ‘929 patent, which relates to creation and printing of electronic documents with dynamic content, in July 2014. Since then the campaign has hit ten companies including Canon, FedEx, HP, Office Depot, Staples, and Walgreen. The cases focus on the defendants’ products and services for formatting, printing, and/or delivering documents. To date, CDR has dismissed its cases against Canon and FedEx (both with prejudice); the remaining eight cases are active.

CDR Triples Its Campaign While CBM Petition of Its Patent Is Pending
HP (2:15-cv-00454), Office Depot (2:15-cv-00451), Staples (2:15-cv-00453), and Walgreen (2:15-cv-00452) were sued in CDR Printing LLC’s campaign. The Empire IP LLC subsidiary had previously filed only two suits, both of which were filed in July 2014 and are still open. CDR’s campaign asserts a single patent (7,271,929) that generally concerns creation and printing of electronic documents with dynamic content. Defendants’ formatting and printing services are at issue in the litigation.
