Dynavair Asserts Former Delphi Battery Cell Balancing Patent Against a Dozen Defendants
Texas NPE Dynavair LLC has launched litigation for the first time, asserting a single patent (6,271,645) against a dozen defendants, including AMS, Atmel, Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions, Eaton, Intersil, Linear Technology, Microchip Technology, NXP Semiconductors (Freescale), OKW Electronics, Samsung, SII Semiconductor, and TI. The ‘645 patent generally relates to balancing energy levels between batteries within a pack. The complaints target the defendants’ cell balancing circuit products, particularly (although not exclusively) for implementation among multiple Li-ion batteries.

NPEs Managed by IP Valuation Partners Launch Seven Litigation Campaigns in 2015
Since April 2015, seven NPEs managed by two partners at IP Valuation Partners LLC have collectively filed over 30 patent infringement suits against operating companies. Six of these NPEs were incorporated in Texas in 2015. (Gene Reader LLC was incorporated in Texas in 2014.) Each NPE is managed by IP Valuation’s Jason Bourgeois (a former patent agent trained in biomedical engineering) or Jonathan Szarzynski (a former patent licensing director at IPNav). Spangler Law P.C. represents all seven of the NPEs in litigation.

Battery Patent From IPNav-Associated Entity Asserted Against Laptop Battery Makers
Eaton, HTC, Maxim, and Sony are the defendants in LX Tech, LLC’s first litigation campaign. The entity asserts a single patent in each case, and the asserted patent concerns protecting a battery from completed discharge (6,362,599). Several claims of the patent specifically mention this as a vehicle or automobile battery. The complaints accuse defendants’ rechargeable laptop batteries of infringement.
