Uber appears to be among a group of operating companies—which includes Citrix, Facebook, Samsung, Seagate, and TiVo—to receive patents from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV) in the past two years. According to recently released USPTO records, the company holds a portfolio of over 50 US and foreign assets that it received from IV through a holding company managed by one of its executives.

Patents continue to peel off from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV) at a rapid rate, with one of its most recent divestitures, involving nearly 40 US assets, received by a Native American tribe. The transaction came just days after a ruling by the Federal Circuit that inter partes reviews against tribal entities are not barred by sovereign immunity.

Among the patent transactions made public by the USPTO during the second week of January was an acquisition by Intellectual Discovery Co. Ltd., involving two automotive portfolios.
