Limestone Memory Asserts New Patents Against Same Targets
Acacia Research subsidiary Limestone Memory Systems LLC (LMS) continues its campaign with suits against Acer, Dell, HP, Kingston Technology, and Lenovo. The defendants were all sued in LMS’s original filing from February of this year, but the new suits assert two patents that were not involved in the previous litigation(6,233,181, 6,697,296). The three patents asserted in LMS’s earlier filing are also asserted in these suits (5,805,504, 5,894,441, 5,943,260). All five of the patents-in-suit concern semiconductor memory chips and the programming of those chips. Similar to the previous suit, the recent cases accuse defendants of incorporating infringing chips produced by Micron. While Micron was a named defendant in the first suit, it is not sued in any of LMS’s new cases.
