NPEs Managed by Nicolas J. Labbit File over 250 Infringement Suits in 2015
Since April 2015, a group of 11 NPEs managed by Nicolas J. Labbit have collectively filed over 250 patent infringement suits against operating companies. Each of the NPEs detailed in this report were incorporated in Texas in 2015 and launched their first and only litigation campaigns this year. Labbit appears to have formed a solo practice after working as an associate at Stevens Love, a small law firm in Longview, Texas that no longer exists. According to Texas State Bar records, Labbit graduated from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M University School of Law) in May 2010.

Power Regeneration, Another NPE Managed by Labbit, Tries to Put the Brakes on Mazda
Power Regeneration, LLC has filed a second suit (6:15-cv-00964) asserting a single patent (7,085,123) generally related to the use of reciprocal switching between a voltage source and a capacitor with non-polar electrodes within a power supply system. The new complaint asserts the ‘123 patent against the i-Eloop regenerative braking system in Mazda’s consumer vehicles. Power Regeneration accused regenerative braking systems supplied by Siemens for rail vehicles and mass transit systems in a complaint filed in April of this year. That suit (6:15-cv-00380) was dismissed without prejudice on August 21, 2015.
