NPEs Managed by Nicolas J. Labbit File over 250 Infringement Suits in 2015
Since April 2015, a group of 11 NPEs managed by Nicolas J. Labbit have collectively filed over 250 patent infringement suits against operating companies. Each of the NPEs detailed in this report were incorporated in Texas in 2015 and launched their first and only litigation campaigns this year. Labbit appears to have formed a solo practice after working as an associate at Stevens Love, a small law firm in Longview, Texas that no longer exists. According to Texas State Bar records, Labbit graduated from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M University School of Law) in May 2010.

New NPE Files 18 Suits Accusing Firewall Products
VeriFire Network Solutions, LLC is a Texas entity, incorporated in February of this year. The entity filed its first round of litigation, suing ADTRAN, Barracuda, Check Point Software, Cisco, D-Link, Dell, F5 Networks, Fortinet, HP, Hillstone Networks, Huawei, Intel, NETGEAR, Palo Alto Networks, Panda Security, Rohde & Schwarz, Shield Midco, Sophos, and WatchGuard Technologies. The suits assert a single patent, developed by Duaxes Corporation, which was assigned to VeriFire in March 2015. It relates to a peer-to-peer node detection database and communication management (8,463,727). RPX reviewed the patent-in-suit as part of an open market opportunity offered in March 2015 (Duaxes Corp – OMA).
