Fellowship Filtering Adds Two More Defendants as Adobe Litigates Transfer to California
Fellowship Filtering Technologies, LLC has added two new cases to its only litigation campaign, filing suit against Alibaba and Taobao Software (2:15-cv-02049) and Yandex (2:15-cv-02062) in the Eastern District of Texas. The suits assert the same patent (5,884,282) that has been in litigation from the outset of this campaign in May 2015. The ‘282 patent is related to an automated collaborative filtering (ACF) system for making recommendations based on user-generated data. Fellowship Filtering has targeted websites and suppliers of collaborative product recommendation software from the beginning, including Adobe, Baidu, Callidus Software, eHarmony, HP, IAC (match.com), IBM, NetSuite, Oracle, Salesforce, SAP, and TIBCO.

In Another Round of Suits, Fellowship Filtering Continues to Focus on Products That Incorporate Recommendation Engines
Two weeks after beginning its first litigation campaign, Fellowship Filtering Technologies, LLC filed suit against Baidu (2:15-cv-01090), Callidus Software (2:15-cv-01107), Cloudera (2:15-cv-01093), eHarmony (2:15-cv-01098), NetSuite (2:15-cv-01106), Oracle (2:15-cv-01045), Salesforce (2:15-cv-01108), and TIBCO Software (2:15-cv-01135). In all 14 of its complaints filed to date, Fellowship asserts a single patent (5,884,282) related to an automated collaborative filtering (ACF) system for making recommendations based on data collected on a website. Fellowship’s campaign is targeting products and/or services that provide or support generating product and/or content recommendations to users; accused products include database management, e-commerce, and analytics platforms, PaaS services, and online matchmaking systems. Adobe, HP, IAC (Match.com), IBM, Open Text, and SAP are active defendants in this campaign.

Inventor-led Entity Launches Campaign About User Recommendation Filtering Services
Adobe (2:15-cv-00838), HP (2:15-cv-00805), IAC (2:15-cv-00837), IBM (2:15-cv-00896), Open Text (2:15-cv-00839), and SAP (2:15-cv-00897) are the first targets of inventor-run entity Fellowship Filtering Technologies, LLC, a Texas entity incorporated in November 2014. The suits assert a single patent (5,884,282) that generally concerns filtering based on user-generated recommendations. One of the owners of Fellowship Filtering, Gary Robinson, is also the sole inventor of the patent-in-suit. Defendants’ services for generating user recommendations are at issue in the suit.
