IP Edge’s Bishop Display Keeps Filing in Couplets
New Patent Litigation
Bishop Display Tech LLC has filed two cases against LG Display, LG Electronics (LGE), and WOOREE BIO (New Optics) together in a pair of Eastern District of Texas complaints (2:24-cv-00084, 2:24-cv-00085) and Heesung Electronics in another pair of complaints (2:24-cv-00086, 2:24-cv-00087) in the same district. The plaintiff, managed by the three principals of Texas monetization firm IP Edge LLC, targets the provision of thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal displays (TFT-LCDs), as well as products incorporating the accused TFT-LCDs (e.g., liquid crystal modules (LCMs), monitors, smartphones, tablets, and TVs).

IP Edge: Bringing Patent Monetization to the People?
In Case You Missed It
For years, RPX has reported on the intelligence that can be culled from public records about the approach to patent monetization by the large collection of patent plaintiffs linked to IP Edge LLC. That Texas monetization firm has never filed suit itself but has, through its associated LLCs, been the top filer by volume of NPE litigation, both for several years running and by an order of magnitude. The “Series of Extraordinary Events” currently underway—first before Delaware Chief Judge Colm F. Connolly, but now also the Federal Circuit—appears to have confirmed that body of reporting, based solely on public records, that the founders of IP Edge, through sister entity MAVEXAR LLC, have constructed a business model by which individuals with no prior, cognizable connection to patent monetization take ownership of patents, the assertion of which MAVEXAR manages—all for a small percentage of the proceeds paid back to those individuals.

Two New IP Edge Cases Filed Against Samsung—Under Curious Circumstances
New Patent Litigation
Last week Bishop Display Tech LLC, an IP Edge LLC plaintiff, sued Samsung (2:21-cv-00136, 2:21-cv-00139) over the provision of devices with liquid crystal display (LCD) panels, including various smartphones and TVs. The NPE asserts a total of 13 patents, all sourced from IP Bridge, Inc., across the two complaints. A couple of aspects of these new cases—akin to IP Edge’s ongoing investigation before the International Trade Commission (ITC), through Q3 Networking LLC over former Siemens patents—make it stand out among the perennial top filer’s myriad campaigns.
