Inventor-Controlled Plaintiff Targets Apple Devices over “Memoji” Delivery

FacetoFace Biometrics, Inc. has sued Apple (4:22-cv-00429) over the provision of various iPhones and iPads that support sending “Memoji”—emoticons with animations based on the user’s facial expressions—over the iMessage messaging service. Asserted in the new Eastern District of Missouri complaint is a single patent generally related to a messaging system that supports sending a “dynamic emoticon” that can simulate a user’s facial expression based on sensor data. FacetoFace appears to be an inventor-controlled plaintiff.
