1. A bone implant elongate along a longitudinal axis that is oriented along a longitudinal direction, the bone implant comprising:

  • an implant body defining a proximal end and a distal end spaced from the proximal end along the longitudinal direction, the implant body including first and second side wire segments that are spaced from each other along a lateral direction so as to define at least one aperture extending through the implant body, the lateral direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the first and second side wire segments attached to each other at least at one end of the at least one aperture, wherein at least one of the first and second side wire segments is bent so as to singly define at least one additional aperture extending through the implant body, the at least one aperture is located at one of the proximal and distal ends of the implant body, the at least one additional aperture is located at the other of the proximal and distal ends of the implant body, and a maximum dimension of the implant body measured along the longitudinal direction is greater than a maximum dimension of the implant body measured along the lateral direction.
