1. A light filtering device, comprising a plurality of adjacent layers forming a stack, wherein:

  • each of said layers comprising at least one material having a refractive index;

    wherein the refractive index of each of said layers is different than the refractive index of each of said adjacent layer;

    each of said layers having a predetermined thickness, wherein said thickness and said refractive index for each of said layers provide optical interference yielding to transmittance spectrum for the light filtering device being substantially equal to the equationtransmittance=1−

    melatonin action suppression spectrum wherein maximum deviation of said transmittance spectrum over said (1−

    melatonin action suppression spectrum) is selected from the group consisting of;

    a) lower than 0.3 for wavelengths between 400 nm and 625 nm; and

    b) lower than 0.12 as an average for all wavelengths between 400 nm and 625 nm.
