Abstract

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes: a transceiver configured to communicate with at least one wearable device and receive, from the at least one wearable device, status information indicating whether the at least one wearable device is currently being worn; and a processor configured to determine whether to send a notification request to the at least one wearable device based on the status information received by the transceiver.

Claims

1. An electronic device comprising:

a transceiver configured to receive, from a wearable device, status information indicating whether the wearable device is currently being worn; and

a processor configured to;

receive a signal indicating occurrence of an event at the electronic device;

determine whether to send a notification corresponding to the event to the wearable device based on the status information received by the transceiver indicating that the wearable device is currently being worn, in response to the occurrence of the event at the electronic device; and

in response to determining to send the notification to the wearable device based on the status information indicating that the wearable device is currently being worn, control the transceiver to send the notification to the wearable device.

2. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the event comprises at least one of a text message event, an appointment reminder event, a system event, a social network event, a phone call event, an e-mail event, a low battery event, and a change of setting event.

3. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the transceiver is further configured to communicate with a plurality of wearable devices including the wearable device, and

wherein the processor is further configured to set an order of notification to the plurality of wearable devices.

4. The electronic device of claim 3, wherein the processor is further configured to determine whether to send the notification to the wearable device of the plurality of wearable devices based on the status information received by the transceiver and the order of notification.

5. The electronic device of claim 3, wherein the processor is further configured to control the transceiver to send a plurality of notifications to the plurality of wearable devices according to the order of notification.

6. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the status information indicates that the wearable device is currently in use, and

wherein the processor is further configured to determine whether the electronic device is currently in use based on the status information, and in response to determining that the wearable device is currently being worn and determining that the wearable device is currently in use, determine to send the notification to the at least one wearable device and control the transceiver to send the notification to the at least one wearable device.

7. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the status information indicates that the wearable device is currently in use, and

wherein the processor is further configured to determine whether the electronic device is currently in use based on the status information, and in response to determining that the electronic device is currently in use and determining that the wearable device is currently being worn, control to provide the notification on the electronic device and determine not to control the transceiver to send the notification to the at least one wearable device.

8. The electronic device of claim 1, wherein the status information indicates that the wearable device is currently in use, and

wherein the processor is further configured to determine whether the electronic device is currently in use based on the status information, and in response to determining that the electronic device is currently in use and determining that the wearable device is currently being worn, control the transceiver to send the notification to the at least one wearable device and control not to provide the notification on the electronic device.

9. A method of providing a notification of an electronic device to a wearable device, the method comprising:

receiving a signal indicating occurrence of an event at the electronic device;

receiving, from the wearable device, status information indicating whether the wearable device is currently being worn; and

determining whether to send a notification corresponding to the event to the wearable device based on the status information indicating that the wearable device is currently being worn, in response to the occurrence of the event at the electronic device; and

in response to determining to send the notification to the wearable device based on the status information indicating that the wearable device is currently being worn, transmitting the notification to the wearable device.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the event comprises at least one of a text message event, an appointment reminder event, a system event, a social network event, a phone call event, an e-mail event, a low battery event, and a change of setting event.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the receiving comprises receiving, from a plurality of wearable devices including the wearable device, status information indicating whether the plurality of wearable devices are currently being worn, and

wherein the method further comprises setting an order of notification to the plurality of wearable devices.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the determining comprises determining whether to send the notification to the wearable device from among the plurality of wearable devices based on the status information and the order of notification.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein the transmitting comprises transmitting a plurality of notifications to the plurality of wearable devices according to the order of notification.

14. The method of claim 9, wherein the status information indicates that the wearable device is currently in use,

wherein the determining comprises determining whether the electronic device is currently in use based on the status information, and

wherein the transmitting comprises in response to determining that the wearable device is currently being worn and determining that the wearable device is currently in use, transmitting the notification to the wearable device.

15. The method of claim 9, wherein the status information indicates that the wearable device is currently in use,

wherein the determining comprises determining whether the electronic device is currently in use based on the status information, and

wherein the transmitting comprises transmitting the notification to the wearable device based on the status information indicating that the electronic device is currently in use and the electronic device is currently being worn.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising providing the notification on the electronic device in response to determining the electronic device is currently in use.

17. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions executable by a computer to perform the method of claim 9.
