First Claim
1. An intramedullary nail for use in a medullary canal of a long bone, the intramedullary nail comprising:
- a body defining a longitudinal axis and an external periphery thereof for fitting in the medullary canal of the long bone, the body defining a first screw trajectory from a first proximal lateral opening to a first distal medial opening when a first screw is implanted in the long bone, the body defining a second screw trajectory from a second distal lateral opening to a second proximal medial opening when a second screw is implanted in the long bone, the first screw trajectory and the second screw trajectory each passing through a first portion of the intramedullary nail and defining a direction in which the first and second screws are configured to be inserted into the intramedullary nail when the first and second screws are implanted in the long bone, the first portion arranged at a first angle relative to the longitudinal axis, the first screw trajectory and the second screw trajectory being oblique with respect to each other, the longitudinal axis and the first screw trajectory defining a first plane, the longitudinal axis and the second screw trajectory defining a second plane, wherein the first and second planes forms an acute angle directed towards the first proximal lateral opening and the second distal lateral opening.

Abstract
An intramedullary nail for use in a medullary canal of a long bone. The nail includes a body defining a longitudinal axis and an external periphery for fitting in the medullary canal of the long bone. The body has a first internal wall thereof defining a first opening through the body, defining a first opening centerline. The body has a second internal wall defining a second opening through the body, defining a second opening centerline. The first opening centerline and the second opening centerline are oblique with respect to each other. The longitudinal axis of the body and the first opening centerline form an acute angle between the longitudinal axis of the body and the first opening centerline. The longitudinal axis of the body and the second opening centerline forming an acute angle between the longitudinal axis of the body and the second opening centerline.
