1. A cannula for positioning in a blood vessel, comprising:
- an intravascular surface enclosing a hollow intravascular interior for receiving and draining an entire volume of blood from the blood vessel;
a plurality of orifices disposed in the intravascular surface, wherein a surface area of the intravascular surface consumed by the plurality of orifices is larger than at least 5% of a remaining surface area of the intravascular surface not consumed by the plurality of orifices, the plurality of orifices causing the cannula to be substantially wall-less, wherein drainage of the vessel is configured to be performed over an entire outer circumference of the cannula after application of a driving pressure in a range of 5 mmHg to 60 mmHg;
the cannula having a length of between 30 cm and 70 cm.
