Method and apparatus for relocating group owner of proximity services group in wireless communication system
First Claim
1. A method for relocating, by a first user equipment (UE) which is a group owner of a proximity services (ProSe) group currently, the group owner of the ProSe group in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- receiving channel quality of a second UE and a ProSe priority of the second UE in the ProSe group, from the second UE;
if the channel quality of the second UE is better than channel quality of the first UE, and if the ProSe priority of the second UE is higher than a ProSe priority of the first UE, determining the second UE as a new group owner of the ProSe group; and
after determining the second UE as the new group owner of the ProSe group, transmitting a group owner relocation command, which includes a group identity (ID) of the ProSe group, to all members of the ProSe group including the second UE determined as the new group owner of the ProSe group,wherein the ProSe priority of the first UE and the ProSe priority of the second UE are allocated by a network node,wherein the channel quality of the first UE is channel quality of an evolved-universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) cell which serves the first UE,wherein the channel quality of the second UE is channel quality of an E-UTRAN cell which serves the second UE, andwherein the group owner relocation command informs the all members of the ProSe group that the group owner of the ProSe group is relocated from the first UE to the second UE.

Abstract
A method and apparatus for relocating a group owner (GO) of a proximity services (ProSe) group in a wireless communication system is provided. A first user equipment (UE), which is the GO of the ProSe group currently, receives at least one of channel quality of a second UE in the ProSe group or priority of the second UE in the ProSe group, from the second UE. The first UE determines the second UE as a new GO of the ProSe group based on the at least one of the channel quality of the second UE in the ProSe group or priority of the second UE in the ProSe group. Alternatively, the second UE may determine itself as the new GO of the ProSe group if the priority of the second UE in the ProSe group is higher than a priority of the first UE in the ProSe group.

1. A method for relocating, by a first user equipment (UE) which is a group owner of a proximity services (ProSe) group currently, the group owner of the ProSe group in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
-
receiving channel quality of a second UE and a ProSe priority of the second UE in the ProSe group, from the second UE; if the channel quality of the second UE is better than channel quality of the first UE, and if the ProSe priority of the second UE is higher than a ProSe priority of the first UE, determining the second UE as a new group owner of the ProSe group; and after determining the second UE as the new group owner of the ProSe group, transmitting a group owner relocation command, which includes a group identity (ID) of the ProSe group, to all members of the ProSe group including the second UE determined as the new group owner of the ProSe group, wherein the ProSe priority of the first UE and the ProSe priority of the second UE are allocated by a network node, wherein the channel quality of the first UE is channel quality of an evolved-universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) cell which serves the first UE, wherein the channel quality of the second UE is channel quality of an E-UTRAN cell which serves the second UE, and wherein the group owner relocation command informs the all members of the ProSe group that the group owner of the ProSe group is relocated from the first UE to the second UE. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

7. A method for relocating, by a second user equipment (UE) which is not a group owner of a proximity services (ProSe) group currently, the group owner of the ProSe group in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
-
receiving a ProSe priority of the second UE in the ProSe group, which is higher than a ProSe priority of a first UE in the ProSe group, from a network; receiving channel quality of the first UE in the ProSe group, which is the group owner of the ProSe group currently, from the first UE; if channel quality of the second UE is better than a pre-determined threshold for determining a new group owner of the ProSe group, determining autonomously the second UE as the new group owner of the ProSe group based on the channel quality of the first UE; and after determining autonomously the second UE as the new group owner of the ProSe group, transmitting a group owner relocation request including a group identity (ID) of the ProSe group, to all group members of the ProSe group and the first UE, wherein the channel quality of the first UE is channel quality of an evolved-universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) cell which serves the first UE, and wherein the channel quality of the second UE is channel quality of an E-UTRAN cell which serves the second UE. - View Dependent Claims (8)
