Vascular device for treating venous valve insufficiency
First Claim
1. A vascular device for treating vein valve insufficiency comprising:
- a support having a first upstream portion, a second downstream portion and an intermediate portion between the upstream portion and the downstream portion, the support including an elongated portion having a longitudinal axis;
a first looped retention portion at the first upstream portion, the first looped portion extending radially from the elongated portion to one side of the longitudinal axis, the first retention portion movable from a first elongated insertion position to an expanded position;
a second looped retention portion at the second downstream portion, the second looped portion extending radially from the elongated portion to the one side of the longitudinal axis, the second retention portion movable from a first elongated insertion position to an expanded position;
a third looped portion extending radially from the elongated portion to the one side of the longitudinal axis, the third looped portion positioned between the first looped retention portion and the second looped retention portion, the third looped portion movable to different diameters dependent on an inner diameter of the vessel wall; and
a valve supported by the third looped portion and movable between an open position to allow blood flow therethrough and a closed position to inhibit blood flow therethrough;
wherein the upstream end portion of the valve is adjacent the third looped portion, and the device includes first and second members extending from the third looped portion to engage the valve at the downstream end portion; and
a collar mounted on the third looped portion, the second member slidable within the collar.

Abstract
A vascular device for treating vein valve insufficiency including an elongated member, a first retention portion movable from a first elongated insertion position to an expanded position and a second retention portion movable from a first elongated insertion position to an expanded position. An intermediate looped portion is positioned between the first portion and the second portion. The valve is supported by the intermediate looped portion and is movable between an open position to allow blood flow therethrough and a closed position to inhibit blood flow therethrough. The intermediate looped portion is adjustable to loops of different diameters dependent on an inner diameter of the vessel wall.

12. A method for treating venous valve insufficiency comprising:
-
providing a vascular device including an elongated portion, downstream, upstream and intermediate looped portions extending radially from the elongated portion, and a valve attached to the intermediate looped portion, the valve having an adjustable diameter; inserting into a target vessel a delivery device and the vascular device in an insertion position within the delivery device, wherein in the insertion position the downstream, upstream and intermediate looped portions have a reduced transverse dimension; and exposing the vascular device from the delivery device, wherein exposing the vascular device enables the downstream, upstream and intermediate looped portions to move to an expanded position, the intermediate looped portion engaging an internal wall of the vessel and automatically adjusting to a diameter of the vessel, wherein when the intermediate looped portion automatically adjusts to the diameter of the vessel the diameter of the valve is adjusted. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15)
