1. An implantable medical device, comprising:

  • a waveform generator configured to generate a stimulation pulse and to deliver the stimulation pulse to a patient'"'"'s tissue through one or more electrodes; and

    a coulomb counter configured to;

    receive a charge setting value that is expressed in terms of electrical charge;

    measure an amount of electrical charge delivered to the patient'"'"'s tissue by the stimulation pulse by measuring an electrical parameter along a conductive path between the waveform generator and the one or more electrodes; and

    generate a control signal to cause the waveform generator to cease delivery of the stimulation pulse when the measured amount of electrical charge equals the charge setting value.
