Abstract

An electronic inspection report system includes a dynamic integrity checker. Upon reception of inspection data from mobile devices, the data from similar and related fields is cross-correlated to identify any inconsistencies or discrepancies. This data is also compared with third party data that may be related to the item or similar item.

Claims

1. A dynamic inspection system for inspecting items, the system comprising:

a processor;

a memory element that is interfaced with the processor and configured to provide storage and retrieval of instructions executable by the processor and data;

a mobile device interface coupled to the processor and configured to interface with one or more mobile devices through a network;

responsive to instructions retrieved from the memory element, the processor is configured to;

access one or more mobile devices over the network through the mobile device interface;

receive one or more data items from the one or more mobile devices, wherein each data item represents a value for one or more attributes of a particular item being inspected, and wherein each data item was entered into the one or more mobile devices during an inspection of the particular item; and

store the one or more data items within the memory element;

a consistency checker module that is configured to;

extract data items from the memory element for the particular item being inspected;

identifying attributes of the particular item that are functionally related to each other, wherein attributes are functionally related to each other if a value of one attribute correlates with a valid range of values for another attribute;

receiving a new data item from the mobile device interface, wherein the new data item includes a first value and is related to a first attribute of the particular item being inspected and the first value was entered into a first mobile device and transmitted over a network to the mobile device interface responsive to an inspection of the particular item;

comparing the first value to previously received values of data items for one or more attributes that are functionally related to the first attribute;

verifying that the first value is not within a range of valid values for the first attribute based on the previously received value for a second attribute of the particular item under inspection that is functionally related to the first attribute, wherein the previously received value for the second attribute was entered into a second mobile device and transmitted over the network to the mobile device interface responsive to an inspection of the particular item;

a data convertor that is configured to convert disparate data from the one or more mobile devices into a standard and compatible format to facilitate comparison;

an analyzer configured to perform statistical analysis of the data items to provide further information to the consistency checker; and

sending a notification to the first mobile device through the mobile device interface to indicate that the first value for the first attribute is not consistent with previously received values for the second attribute.

2. The dynamic data integrity verification system of claim 1, wherein the data consistency checker identifies attributes of the particular item that are functionally related by identifying attributes that have values that are inversely proportional to each other.

The dynamic data integrity verification system of claim 1, further comprising a report generator and, wherein upon the data consistency checker discovering inconsistencies by determining that the inversely proportionate data items are similar, the report generator flagging the particular item under inspection for being re-inspected.

4. The dynamic data integrity verification system of claim 1, wherein the data consistency checker identifies attributes of the particular item that are functionally related by identifying attributes that have values that are directly proportional to each other.

The dynamic data integrity verification system of claim 4, further comprising a report generator and, wherein upon the data consistency checker discovering inconsistencies by determining that the directly proportionate data items are disparate, the report generator flagging the particular item under inspection for being re-inspected.
