1. A method of improving blood flow in a blood vessel having an obstruction, the method comprising:
- advancing a catheter into the blood vessel, the catheter containing an obstruction removal device having an expandable structure, the expandable structure extending between a near end and a far end and comprising a continuous wire construction with a plurality of wires, wherein the expandable structure includes an intermediate portion between first and second regions of the structure in which the wires converge inwardly, and wherein at least one of the wires along the intermediate portion extends longitudinally and substantially parallel to another one of the wires;
deploying the far end and the near end of the expandable structure respectively beyond a distal end and a proximal end of the obstruction such that the expandable structure spans across the obstruction and the intermediate portion expands within the vessel to embed into the obstruction;
holding the obstruction via the intermediate portion of the expandable structure between the first and second regions of the structure in which the wires converge inwardly; and
withdrawing the obstruction removal device and obstruction from the vessel to improve blood flow in the blood vessel.

Abstract
The devices and methods described herein relate to jointless construction of complex structures. Such devices have applicability in through-out the body, including clearing of blockages within body lumens, such as the vasculature, by addressing the frictional resistance on the obstruction prior to attempting to translate and/or mobilize the obstruction within the body lumen.
