Headgear for patient interface
First Claim
1. A mask and headgear system comprisinga mask, the mask comprising a frame and a seal supported by the frame,headgear connected to the mask, anda break-fit assembly configured to elongate upon the application of a force exceeding a preselected force, the mask, headgear, and break-fit assembly together defining a loop that elongates with forces that exceed the preselected force, the break-fit assembly including a stretch portion;
- wherein the break-fit assembly comprises a first portion and a second portion that are movable relative to one another from a resting position to an elongated position, wherein a length of the loop is longer in the elongated position than the resting position,wherein the break-fit assembly is configured to have a coupling force tending to secure the first portion and the second portion in the resting position, the coupling force acting in an elongation direction of the loop,wherein the stretch portion provides a restoration force that acts to return the first and second portions toward each other a distance which allows a magnetic attraction force between the first and second portions to act to secure the first and second portions together.

Abstract
An interface includes a mask. The mask includes a frame and a seal supported by the frame. Headgear is connected to the mask. The interface includes at least one of (i) an adjustment mechanism that can be set to a use length for a loop defined by the mask and the headgear; and (2) a break-fit assembly that can selectively lengthen the loop defined by the mask and the headgear and return to the use length.

1. A mask and headgear system comprising
a mask, the mask comprising a frame and a seal supported by the frame, headgear connected to the mask, and a break-fit assembly configured to elongate upon the application of a force exceeding a preselected force, the mask, headgear, and break-fit assembly together defining a loop that elongates with forces that exceed the preselected force, the break-fit assembly including a stretch portion; -
wherein the break-fit assembly comprises a first portion and a second portion that are movable relative to one another from a resting position to an elongated position, wherein a length of the loop is longer in the elongated position than the resting position, wherein the break-fit assembly is configured to have a coupling force tending to secure the first portion and the second portion in the resting position, the coupling force acting in an elongation direction of the loop, wherein the stretch portion provides a restoration force that acts to return the first and second portions toward each other a distance which allows a magnetic attraction force between the first and second portions to act to secure the first and second portions together. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4)

- 5. A break-fit assembly for a mask and headgear assembly, the break-fit assembly comprising a magnetic coupling that resists elongation from a first length to a second length until a force is applied that exceeds a predetermined force, the magnetic coupling comprising multiple parts and a stretch portion that connects the multiple parts and biases the magnetic coupling toward a connected position, wherein the stretch portion provides a restoration force that acts to return the multiple parts toward each other a distance which allows a magnetic attraction force between the multiple parts to act to secure the multiple parts together.
