Patent Images

1. A method comprising:

  • acquiring a first photographic image via a camera on a mobile device;

    tagging, via a global positioning system (GPS) included in the mobile device, the first photographic image acquired via the camera such that the first photographic image is associated with a waypoint along a navigational route of the mobile device;

    determining that the mobile device is within a proximity of the waypoint;

    in response to movement of the mobile device along the navigational route and determining that the mobile device is within the proximity of the waypoint, displaying an icon indicating that an associated image is available in local memory of the mobile device or on a remote server, before the associated image is displayed;

    selectively displaying ones of a plurality of photographic images in a first order along the navigational route in response to interaction with the icon, wherein the icon is ignored in the absence of the interaction,wherein at least one of the plurality of photographic images comprising a detour waypoint along the navigational route,wherein the detour waypoint is offered for a user selection prior to leaving the navigational route,wherein a user of the mobile device selects which ones of the plurality of photographic images are displayed along the navigational route, andwherein the ones of the plurality of photographic images comprising the detour waypoint are displayed from a perspective of the user traveling in a direction along the navigation route; and

    facilitating the mobile device traveling the navigation route in reverse by displaying, on the mobile device, the ones of the plurality of photographic images in a second order that is opposite the first order,wherein only the ones of the plurality of photographic images displayed in the second order that is opposite the first order are formatted as video comprising a timed series of the ones of the plurality of photographic images.
