First Claim
1. An electrostatic capacitive type touch panel comprising:
- a substrate including a pair of long sides extending along an X direction and a pair of short sides extending along a Y direction;
a plurality of X electrodes extending along the X direction,a plurality of Y electrodes extending along the Y direction,a first signal line having a first portion which extends along at least one of the short and long sides of the electrostatic capacitive type touch panel supplying signals to the X electrodes;
a second signal line having a first portion which extends along at least one of the short and long sides of the electrostatic capacitive type touch panel supplying signals to the Y electrodes;
a plurality of first connection terminals of the first portion of the first signal line and the second signal line; and
a flexible printed circuit board having a second portion of the first and the second signal line, a plurality of second connection terminals, and a plurality of third connection terminals,wherein the second connection terminal is electrically connected with the third connection terminal respectively by the second portion,wherein the plurality of second connection terminals is disposed above the plurality of first connection terminal and electrically connected with the plurality of first connection terminals respectively,wherein the flexible printed circuit board has a plurality of intersecting lines of the second portion,wherein the flexible printed circuit board has a plurality conductive layers which includes second portion of the first signal line and the second signal line, and are electrically connected each other by a through hole which is formed at an end portion of the intersecting lines,wherein the X electrode and the Y electrode are made of a conductive layer,wherein the substrate has a floating electrode which is made of the conductive layer of the X electrode and the Y electrode, and does not connect the X electrode and the Y electrode,wherein the X electrode has a first edge which does not extend along the X direction,wherein the Y electrode has a second edge which does not extend along the Y direction, andwherein the floating electrode has a third edge which extends along the first edge and a fourth edge which extends along the second edge.

Abstract
A display device includes a display panel, and an electrostatic capacitive type touch panel which is formed in an overlapping manner with the display panel. A plurality of X electrodes and a plurality of Y electrodes intersecting with the X electrodes. A first signal line supplies signals to the X electrodes, a second signal line supplies signals to the Y electrodes, and the first signal line and the second signal line are formed on a flexible printed circuit board. A dummy electrode is formed adjacent to an electrode portion of each X electrode and electrode portion of each Y electrode, the dummy electrode does not overlap the X electrode and the Y electrode, and the dummy electrode does not electrically connect with the first and second signal lines.

1. An electrostatic capacitive type touch panel comprising:

a substrate including a pair of long sides extending along an X direction and a pair of short sides extending along a Y direction; a plurality of X electrodes extending along the X direction, a plurality of Y electrodes extending along the Y direction, a first signal line having a first portion which extends along at least one of the short and long sides of the electrostatic capacitive type touch panel supplying signals to the X electrodes; a second signal line having a first portion which extends along at least one of the short and long sides of the electrostatic capacitive type touch panel supplying signals to the Y electrodes; a plurality of first connection terminals of the first portion of the first signal line and the second signal line; and a flexible printed circuit board having a second portion of the first and the second signal line, a plurality of second connection terminals, and a plurality of third connection terminals, wherein the second connection terminal is electrically connected with the third connection terminal respectively by the second portion, wherein the plurality of second connection terminals is disposed above the plurality of first connection terminal and electrically connected with the plurality of first connection terminals respectively, wherein the flexible printed circuit board has a plurality of intersecting lines of the second portion, wherein the flexible printed circuit board has a plurality conductive layers which includes second portion of the first signal line and the second signal line, and are electrically connected each other by a through hole which is formed at an end portion of the intersecting lines, wherein the X electrode and the Y electrode are made of a conductive layer, wherein the substrate has a floating electrode which is made of the conductive layer of the X electrode and the Y electrode, and does not connect the X electrode and the Y electrode, wherein the X electrode has a first edge which does not extend along the X direction, wherein the Y electrode has a second edge which does not extend along the Y direction, and wherein the floating electrode has a third edge which extends along the first edge and a fourth edge which extends along the second edge. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4, 5)

6. An electrostatic capacitive type touch panel comprising:

a substrate having a pair of long sides and a pair of short sides; a plurality of X electrodes and a plurality of Y electrodes intersecting with the X electrodes which are formed on the substrate, a first signal line having a first portion which extends along at least one of the short and long sides of the substrate supplying signals to the X electrodes; a second signal line having a first portion which extends along at least one of the short and long sides of the substrate supplying signals to the Y electrodes; a plurality of first connection terminals of the first portion of the first signal line and the second signal line arranged above the substrate; and a flexible printed circuit board having a second portion of the first and the second signal line, a plurality of second connection terminals, and a plurality of third connection terminals being electrically connected with the second connection terminals respectively by the second portion; and a shielding line surrounding the first and the second signal line of the second portion, wherein the plurality of second connection terminals is overlapped with the plurality of first connection terminals and electrically connected with the plurality of first connection terminals respectively, wherein the flexible printed circuit board has a plurality of intersection lines of the second portion, wherein the substrate has a floating electrode which is between the X electrode and the Y electrode, and does not connect the X electrode and the Y electrode, and wherein the floating electrode has an edge which does not extend along the pair of long sides and the pair of short edges. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9, 10)

a substrate including a pair of long sides and a pair of short sides; a plurality of X electrodes and a plurality of Y electrodes intersecting with the X electrodes formed on the substrate, a first signal line having a first portion which extends along at least one of the short and long sides of the electrostatic capacitive type touch panel supplying signals to the X electrodes; a second signal line having a first portion which extends along at least one of the short and long sides of the electrostatic capacitive type touch panel supplying signals to the Y electrodes; a plurality of first connection terminals of the first portion of the first signal line and the second signal line; a flexible printed circuit board having a second portion of the first and the second signal line, a plurality of second connection terminals, and a plurality of third connection terminals, wherein the second connection terminal is electrically connected with the third connection terminal respectively by the second portion, wherein the plurality of second connection terminals is disposed above the plurality of first connection terminal and electrically connected with the plurality of first connection terminals respectively, wherein the flexible printed circuit board has a plurality of intersecting lines of the second portion, wherein the flexible printed circuit board has a plurality of conductive layers which include the second portion of the first signal line and the second signal line, and are electrically connected to each other by a through hole which is formed at an end portion of the intersecting lines, wherein the substrate has a floating electrode which is formed adjacent the X electrode, and wherein the floating electrode has an edge which does not extend along the pair of long sides and the pair of short edges. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15)
