1. A method for structural damage detection in a vehicle, the method comprising:

  • detecting a change in tension of a wire coupled to two different nodes of a multiplicity of nodes tethered to one another by way of tensioned wires and the multiplicity of nodes having been affixed to an interior portion of a vehicle; and

    responsive to the detection, determining whether or not either water or smoke has intruded into the interior portion and also determining a temperature within the interior portion of the vehicle, and uploading data including the change in tension, the temperature of the interior portion of the vehicle and whether or not smoke or water has intruded into the interior portion of the vehicle, to a computer remote from the vehicle over a computer communications network.
