1. A method of monitoring a medical storage unit, comprising:
- receiving information identifying a particular temperature range related to a medical item and storing the information in a memory associated with the medical item;
receiving temperature information from the medical storage unit, wherein the temperature information includes a temperature of the medical storage unit;
storing the temperature information in the memory to indicate the temperature of the medical storage unit versus time;
generating an output value from a trained neural network model (NNM) based upon the temperature information; and
generating an alarm when the output value indicates that the temperature of the medical storage unit is likely outside the particular temperature range related to the medical item.

A system includes a plurality of RFID chips affixed to a medical item, a data collection engine device, and a server device. The data collection engine wirelessly transmits power to a first one of the RFID chips and receives first medical data from the first RFID chip while the first RFID chip is activated by the power receiver. The data collection engine generates a first message indicative of the first medical data to be sent to the server device. The server device can determine aspects of the medical item based upon the first medical data.

6. A medical storage unit for storing one or more medical items, comprising;

a first radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag including; a controller configured according to instructions in memory to generate a message including identification information and medical data; and one or more antenna portions configured to transmit the message and to wirelessly receiving power from a power transmission subsystem; a reader device communicating with the first RFID tag, wherein the reader device comprises; a transceiver configured to receive the message from the first RFID tag; a controller operatively coupled to the transceiver; and one or more memory sources operatively coupled to the controller, the one or more memory sources including instructions for configuring the controller to generate one or more messages indicative of the identification information and the medical data to be sent by the transceiver to a server device via a network connection. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13)
