1. An apparatus comprising:
- an insulator coupled to one or more electrodes for passively sensing;
a charge displacement resulting from a triboelectric interaction between an object and the insulator due to a contact or separation between the object and the insulator; and
a change in one or more characteristics of an electromagnetic interference signal in an environment of a user of the apparatus, wherein at least one of the one or more characteristics of the electromagnetic interference signal comprises electromagnetic noise detected as an input to the apparatus; and
circuitry for detecting, based on the passively sensed charged displacement or the passively sensed change in one or more characteristics of the electromagnetic interference signal, contact with the apparatus or a context of the apparatus.

10. An apparatus comprising:
-
one or more electrodes for passively sensing; a charge displacement resulting from a triboelectric interaction between an object and an insulator; and a change in one or more characteristics of an electromagnetic interference signal in an environment of a user of the apparatus, wherein at least one of the one or more characteristics of the electromagnetic interference signal comprises electromagnetic noise detected as an input to the apparatus; the insulator coupled to the electrodes; and a computer-readable non-transitory storage medium embodying logic that is operable when executed to; analyze the passively sensed charge displacement and determine, based on the analysis of the passively sensed charge displacement, that the charge displacement resulted from a contact or separation between the object and the insulator; and analyze the change in the one or more characteristics of the electromagnetic interference signal in the environment of the user of the apparatus to identify, based on the passively sensed change in one or more characteristics of the electromagnetic interference signal, a contact with the apparatus, a context of the apparatus, or the environment of the user. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20)
