1. A data transmission apparatus which transmits a file to a server based on setting information including at least destination information of the server, a format of the file, and authentication information required for file transmission, comprising:
- one or more memories that store a set of instructions; and
one or more processors that execute the instructions to;
receive setting information including at least destination information of the server, a format of the file, and first authentication information required for the file transmission;
receive, from a user, a registration instruction to register the received setting information,register, according to the received registration instruction, setting information which includes the destination information of the server and the format of the file and does not include the first authentication information; and
set, when a call instruction to call the registered setting information is input from a user, the destination information of the server and the format of the file included in the registered setting information and second authentication information required at the time of file transmission to the server corresponding to the destination information, as setting information to be used for transmitting a file from the data transmission apparatus,wherein authentication information which has been used for logging in to the data transmission apparatus by the user having input the call instruction is diverted as the second authentication information.

Abstract
A data communication apparatus that is capable of improving operability when inputting authentication information. An authentication unit accepts authentication information inputted when a user logs in to the data communication apparatus and authenticates the user based on the accepted authentication information. A designation unit designates a file transmission destination that is inputted by the authenticated user. A transmission unit transmits a file to the transmission destination inputted. A registration unit registers the transmission destination of the file. A control unit prohibits registration of the authentication information at the time of registration of the transmission destination of the file when the accepted authentication information is used for file transmission, and permits registration of the authentication information at the time of registration of the transmission destination of the file when the inputted authentication information is not used for file transmission.
