1. A communication device, comprising:
- a microphone configured to detect an acoustic signal from an acoustic environment; and
a processor, configured to detect an acoustical dampening between the acoustic environment and the microphone, based on a change in a characteristic of the acoustic signal and, responsive to the acoustical dampening, apply a compensation filter to the acoustic signal to form a compensated acoustic signal that is reproduced, the compensation filter approximating an inverse of the acoustical dampening between the acoustic environment and the microphone.

11. A method of compensating for acoustical dampening comprising:
-
detecting an acoustic signal from an acoustic environment via a microphone; and detecting an acoustical dampening between the acoustic environment and the microphone based on a change in a characteristic of the acoustic signal; and
,responsive to the acoustical dampening, filtering the acoustic signal using a compensation filter approximating an inverse of the acoustical dampening between the acoustic environment and the microphone. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
