1. A modular external defibrillator system for treating a patient, comprising:

  • a base including;

    one or more therapy cables;

    a therapy module that, in response to an instruction to deliver a defibrillation shock to the patient, outputs defibrillation shock therapy through the one or more therapy cables;

    a base transceiver;

    a base connector; and

    a pod having a unique identifier stored therein and including;

    a patient parameter module having one or more sensors that, when attached to or in close proximity to a patient, collect patient data about the patient that includes one or more patient vital signs;

    a pod transceiver that, in response to receiving collected patient data from the patient parameter module, transmits some portion or all of the collected patient data to the base transceiver;

    a pod connector that releasably mates with the base connector and communicates the stored unique identifier to the base when the pod is mated with the base.
