1. A system for detecting an at least one condition of interest relating to a tube comprising:

  • a split-ring resonator component configured to interface with the tube, wherein the split-ring resonator component comprises;

    a transmitting antenna configured to transmit microwave energy;

    a receiving antenna configured to receive the microwave energy; and

    a split-ring resonator positioned between the transmitting and receiving antennas and positioned adjacent to the tube, wherein the split-ring resonator is adapted to vary at least one parameter of the microwave energy in response to an existence of the at least one condition of interest; and

    a detection component operatively coupled to the split-ring resonator component, the detection component configured to detect the at least one condition of interest.
