Sensor device, and systems and methods for obtaining measurements of selected characteristics of a concrete mixture
First Claim
1. A sensor device comprising:
- a first housing, the first housing having a first hole disposed on a selected side of the first housing, the first hole allowing substances to pass from an exterior of the first housing to an interior of the first housing;
a metallic material disposed inside and on the selected side of the first housing to cause the selected side to have a greater weight than an opposite side of the first housing;
a second housing disposed inside the first housing, wherein the second housing has a second hole adjacent the first hole to allow substances to pass from the exterior of the first housing through the first and second holes into an interior of the second housing;
wherein the second housing further comprises;
a printed circuit board disposed in the second housing, the printed circuit board including a humidity sensor and at least one electronic component;
a tube having a first end and a second end, the tube comprising a waterproof material, wherein the first end of the tube contacts the printed circuit board and surrounds the humidity sensor, wherein the tube does not penetrate the printed circuit board, wherein a first seal is formed between the first end of the tube and the printed circuit board, wherein the second end of the tube is located proximate the second hole and surrounds the second hole; and
a material layer disposed between the second end of the tube and the second hole, wherein the material layer comprises a waterproof and breathable material, wherein a second seal is formed between the material layer and the second housing, wherein a third seal is formed between the material layer and the second end of the tube;
wherein the first hole, the second hole and the material layer allow water vapor to pass from the exterior of the first housing into a volume that is defined by the tube, the printed circuit board, and the material layer, and that comprises the humidity sensor, thereby causing the humidity sensor to be exposed to the water vapor;
wherein the tube, the first seal, the second seal, and the third seal prevent the water vapor from reaching the at least one electronic component.

Abstract
A sensor device includes a housing having a hole allowing substances to pass from an exterior of the housing to an interior of the housing, and a printed circuit board having a humidity sensor and at least one electronic component. The sensor device also includes a tube comprising a waterproof material, wherein a first end of the tube surrounds the humidity sensor, wherein a first seal is formed by between the first end of the tube and the printed circuit board, wherein a second end of the tube is located proximate the hole. The sensor device also includes a waterproof, breathable material layer disposed between the second end of the tube and the hole, wherein a second seal is formed between the material layer and the housing, wherein a third seal is formed between the material layer and the second end of the tube. The hole and the material layer allow water vapor to pass from the exterior to the humidity sensor. The first, second, and third seals prevent the water vapor from reaching the at least one electronic component.

6. A sensor device comprising:
-
a first housing, the first housing having a first opening that allows water vapor to pass between an exterior of the first housing and an interior of the first housing but prevents liquid from passing between the exterior and the interior, the first opening being located on a selected side of the first housing; a metallic substance disposed inside and on the selected side of the first housing to cause the selected side to have a greater weight than an opposite side of the first housing; a second housing disposed inside the first housing, wherein the second housing has a second opening adjacent the first opening to allow water vapor to pass from the exterior of the first housing through the first and second opening into the interior of the second housing; wherein the second housing further comprises; a printed circuit board disposed in the second housing, the printed circuit board comprising; a humidity sensor adapted to obtain humidity measurements; a tube having a first end that surrounds the humidity sensor and a second end that surrounds the second opening, wherein a first seal is formed between the first end and the printed circuit board; a waterproof and breathable material layer disposed between the second end and the second opening, wherein a second seal is formed between the material and a portion of the housing proximate the second opening; wherein the material layer allows water vapor passing through the first opening and the second opening to pass into a volume that is defined by the tube, the printed circuit board, and the material layer, and that comprises the humidity sensor, thereby causing the humidity sensor to be exposed to the water vapor; one or more second sensors adapted to obtain measurement data; a processor adapted to; detect a change in the humidity measurements from a first level to a second level; and activate the one or more second sensors in response to the change in the humidity measurements; and and a transmitter adapted to transmit the humidity measurements and the measurement data. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9, 10, 11)
