1. A touch detection device comprising:

  • a first substrate;

    a second substrate opposed to the first substrate;

    a plurality of detection electrodes overlapping a display region on a plane parallel with the first substrate; and

    a cover base material that is opposed to the second substrate and that has a frame region outside the display region on a plane parallel with the cover base material;

    a first drive electrode arranged in the frame region of the cover base material,whereinproximity or contact of an object with respect to the frame region is detected based on capacitance between the detection electrodes and the first drive electrode, andthe first drive electrode extends in a first direction along a side of the frame region that is between a side edge of the cover base material and an outer circumference of the display region,the detection electrodes, each of which extends in a second direction intersecting the first direction, are arranged in the first direction in which the first drive electrode extends,capacitance is formed between the detection electrodes and the first drive electrode in an area adjacent to the frame region, andthe touch detection device comprises a plurality of the first drive electrodes arranged to surround at least two sides of the outer circumference of the display region.
