1. A method comprising the steps of:
- releasably coupling a first instrument arm of a first member of an expansion instrument to a first frame arm of an intervertebral implant frame, wherein the first member further includes a first base, and the first instrument arm extends from the first base;
releasably coupling a second instrument arm of a second member of the expansion instrument to a second frame arm of the intervertebral implant frame, wherein the second member further includes a second base, and the second instrument arm extends from the second base;
inserting the second base into a first gap of the first member that extends into the first base; and
translating the second base relative to the first base in the first gap so as to cause the respective first and second frame arms to move away from each other.
