1. A device usable to anchor an elongate member to tissue of a human or animal subject, said anchor comprising:
- an elongate member;
an anchor body comprising a tube having ends and sides and having a hollow passage through which the elongate member passes, an open proximal end, and a side aperture, wherein the entire aperture is located on a side of the tube roughly midway between the ends of the tube;
wherein the hollow passage extends at least from the open proximal end to the side aperture and the elongate member passes through the side aperture and the elongate member passes only once through the open proximal end of the anchor body; and
a locking member that is initially positioned in a non-locked position that allows the anchor body to advance over the elongate member and within the tube, and the locking member subsequently being advanced to a locked position where the locking member engages the elongate member thereby holding the anchor body at a substantially fixed position transverse to the elongate member.

12. A device usable to anchor an elongate member to tissue of a human or animal subject, said device comprising:
-
an elongate member; an anchor body comprising a tube having ends and sides and having a hollow passage through which the elongate member passes, an open proximal end, and a side aperture located on a side of the tube; wherein the hollow passage extends at least from the open proximal end to the side aperture and the elongate member passes through the side aperture and the elongate member passes only once through the open proximal end of the anchor body; a locking member that is initially positioned in a non-locked position that allows the anchor body to advance over the elongate member and within the tube, and the locking member subsequently being advanced to a locked position where the locking member engages the elongate member thereby holding the anchor body at a substantially fixed position transverse to the elongate member; and wherein the anchor body further comprises a locking member engagement surface that engages the locking member after it has been advanced to its locked position and wherein the locking member engagement surface comprises a tab that extends into the hollow channel and wherein a notch is formed in the locking member such that when the locking member is advanced to its locked position the tab will seat in the notch, thereby holding the locking member in its locked position. - View Dependent Claims (13)

14. A device to anchor an elongate member to tissue of a human or animal subject comprising, said anchor comprising:
-
an elongate member; an anchor body comprising a tube having ends and sides and having a hollow passage through which the elongate member passes, an open proximal end, and a side aperture located on a side of the tube; wherein the hollow passage extends at least from the open proximal end to the side aperture and the elongate member passes through the side aperture and the elongate member passes only once through the open proximal end of the anchor body; a locking member that is initially positioned in a non-locked position that allows the anchor body to advance over the elongate member and within the tube, and the locking member subsequently being advanced to a locked position where the locking member engages the elongate member thereby holding the anchor body at a substantially fixed position transverse to the elongate member; and wherein the device is used in combination with an introducer that is insertable into the body and useable to advance the anchor body to a desired position on the elongate member, the introducer comprising a handpiece on the proximal end of the introducer, the handpiece comprising a first actuator for advancing the anchor body over the elongate member and a second actuator for moving the locking member from its non-locked position to its locked position, thereby locking the anchor body at the desired location. - View Dependent Claims (15)
