Contrast media injection data management
First Claim
1. A medical system comprising:
- a network;
a first facility;
a plurality of imaging suites comprising first and second imaging suites, wherein said first facility comprises said first and second imaging suites, wherein each said imaging suite comprises an imaging system;
a separate contrast media injector system associated with each said imaging suite, wherein each said contrast media injector system is on said network, wherein each said contrast media injector system comprises an injection head, and wherein said injection head for each said contrast media injector system is located within its corresponding said imaging suite;
a plurality of control rooms, wherein each said control room is associated with at least one said imaging suite;
a first medical information system on said network; and
an injection data management system comprising;
a separate data translation module and a separate data management system (DMS) console for each said contrast media injector system such that each said contrast media injector system has a dedicated said data translation module and a dedicated said DMS console, wherein each said DMS console comprises at least one user input device and at least one display; and
a data management system (DMS) server;
wherein said data translation module and said DMS console for each said contrast media injector system, as well as said DMS server, are all on said network;
wherein each said data translation module receives injection data from its corresponding said contrast media injector system, and comprises a first data conversion unit to convert at least some of said injection data from a first data format to a second data format, and wherein each said data translation module is configured to send said injection data, in said second format, to its corresponding said DMS console;
wherein each said DMS console is configured to compile, based at least in part on injection data received from its corresponding said contrast media injector system, a data management system (DMS) patient record pertaining to a single injection procedure on a single patient using at least one medical fluid and its corresponding said contrast media injector system, wherein said DMS console is further configured to store a plurality of said DMS patient records generated from execution of a plurality of injection procedures by its corresponding said contrast media injector system, and wherein each said DMS console is configured to transmit selected said DMS patient records, that are currently stored on said DMS console, to said DMS server; and
wherein said DMS server comprises a DMS records database comprising a plurality of DMS patient records received from each said DMS console; and
wherein said DMS server is configured to transmit selected said DMS patient records, that are currently stored on said DMS server, to said first medical information system.

Abstract
Contrast administration data that relates to operation of a contrast media injector system (602) may be converted from at least one format (e.g., a CAN-compliant format) to at least one other format (e.g., an HL-7-compliant format) by an injection data management module (660) for use by a medical system (600). Data on contrast media prescribed for an imaging operation using an imaging system (690), contrast media data for use in this imaging operation, and data on contrast media actually administered/injected by a contrast media injector system (602) for this imaging operation may be stored in a data structure (780) on the injection data management module (660). Patient renal function data may be used to control the dispensing of contrast media from a contrast media/storage/dispensing unit (500), to control the operation of the contrast media injector system (602), or both, and may be stored in the data structure (780) as well.
