Abstract
An intracorporeal marker system includes a tissue marker pellet comprised of a polysaccharide material. The intracorporeal marker system may also include a fibrous marker of bioabsorbable fibers. In one embodiment, for example, an outer layer of bioabsorbable fibers is disposed around at least part of an inner core of bioabsorbable fibers.

4. A remotely imageable breast tissue marker system, comprising:
-
an elongated tubular shaft which has a distal end, a proximal end, an inner lumen extending between the proximal end and the distal end, and a distal discharge opening; a proximal breast tissue marker comprised of a polysaccharide slidably disposed in the inner lumen of the elongated tubular shaft, the proximal breast tissue marker comprised of polysaccharide configured to exhibit hemostatic properties; a fibrous breast tissue marker comprising bioabsorbable fibers slidably disposed in the inner lumen of the elongated tubular shaft at a location distal to the proximal breast tissue marker comprised of polysaccharide; and a plunger element which is slidably disposed in part within the inner lumen of the elongated tubular shaft proximal to the proximal breast tissue marker comprised of polysaccharide, and which is configured to discharge in sequence the fibrous breast tissue marker and the proximal breast tissue marker comprised of polysaccharide from the distal discharge opening of the elongated tubular shaft. - View Dependent Claims (5, 6)
