- identifying a first communication device that is configured to transmit and receive wireless signals within the U-NII band and is configured to implement dynamic frequency selection;
obtaining information regarding the implementation of the dynamic frequency selection of the first communication device;
identifying a second communication device to install in proximity to the first communication device;
determining if the obtained information of the first communication device meets at least one threshold criteria;
indicating that the second communication device is to wirelessly communicate with the first communication device via the U-NII band if the obtained information of the first communication device meets the at least one threshold criteria; and
indicating that the second communication device is to communicate with the first communication device via a wired connection if the obtained information of the first communication device does not meet the at least one threshold criteria.

Abstract
Embodiments are directed towards collecting information regarding the implementation of dynamic frequency selection and automatic channel selection by one or more wireless communication devices using the U-NII radio band. And to use the collected information to determine if other communication devices are coupled to communicate with each other via a wireless connection or a wired connection, or to modify the automatic channel selection mechanism used by one or more wireless communication devices.

16. A handheld device, comprising:
circuitry configured to; monitor U-NII band channel utilization by one or more communication devices in proximity to the handheld device; determine if the U-NII band channel utilization meets at least one threshold criteria; in response to the at least one threshold criteria being met, output an indication that a first communication device installed proximate to the handheld device is to communicate wirelessly with a second communication device installed proximate to the handheld device via the U-NII band; and in response to the at least one threshold criteria being not met, output an indication that the first communication device is to communicate via a wired connection with the second communication device. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20)
