Dual-range wireless interactive entertainment device
First Claim
1. A dual-range wireless tracking and actuation device for tracking a guest within an entertainment facility and for wirelessly actuating one or more associated effects as part of an interactive entertainment experience, said wireless tracking and actuation device comprising:
- a portable token configured to be carried or worn by said guest, said portable token comprising one or more internal batteries and electronic circuitry comprising;
non-volatile memory storing a unique identifier that uniquely identifies said portable token;
an antenna configured to be wirelessly energized by inductive coupling with an external activation device over a limited activation range of less than 60 centimeters;
a first radiofrequency (RF) transceiver electrically coupled to and powered by said antenna and configured to provide first two-way wireless communications with a first wireless-compatible device over a first wireless communication range of less than 60 centimeters;
a second RF transceiver electrically coupled to and powered by said one or more internal batteries and configured to provide second two-way wireless communications with a second wireless-compatible device over a second wireless communication range of greater than 10 feet; and
wherein at least one of said first two-way wireless communications or said second two-way wireless communications comprise said unique identifier.
