1. A kit for detecting a nucleic acid of mecC-containing methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (mecC-MRSA) comprising:

  • a first oligonucleotide consisting of a sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs;

    1, 2, 6, and 8;

    a second oligonucleotide configured to hybridize to a portion of an orfX gene, consisting of SEQ ID NO;

    9; and

    a detectably labeled third oligonucleotide configured to hybridize to an amplicon generated by the first oligonucleotide and the second oligonucleotide, consisting of SEQ ID NO;

    10, or a complement thereof.
