Optical systems for multi-sensor endoscopes
First Claim
1. A method of using a multi-sensor endoscope comprising:
- positioning an optical system for a tip section of said multi-sensor endoscope to place a target area in view of the optical system, wherein positioning said optical system comprises;
positioning a front-pointing camera sensor and a front objective lens system of said optical system to place a front portion of said target area in view of said front-pointing camera sensor and said front objective lens system;
positioning a side-pointing camera sensor and a side objective lens system of said optical system to place a side portion of said target area in view of said side-pointing camera sensor and said side objective lens system;
wherein at least one of said front and said side objective lens systems comprises;
a first sub-system,a second sub-system separated from said first sub-system by a stop diaphragm,a lens holder, wherein the camera sensor for said at least one of said front and said side objective lens systems is attached to the lens holder, and wherein said lens holder has a passage extending therethrough,a lens barrel, wherein said lens barrel receives said first and second sub-systems within a passage extending therethrough, and wherein said passage of said lens holder receives said lens barrel, andwherein said first sub-system comprises a plurality of lenses within said passage of said lens barrel,wherein said second sub-system comprises a plurality of lenses within said passage of said lens barrel, and wherein a lens of said plurality of lenses of said second sub-system is the lens closest to said camera sensor for said at least one of said front and said side objective lens systems; and
changing a distance between at least one of;
(a) said front objective lens system and said front-pointing camera sensor, and(b) said side objective lens system and said side-pointing camera sensor,wherein changing said distance includes moving said lens barrel within said lens holder, to change a focal distance of at least one of said front and said side objective lens systems.
