Abstract

An aspiration system including a housing containing an aspiration pump, a chamber, a collection bag in fluid communication with the chamber, and a tubing assembly including a first tube portion connected to the chamber. The tubing assembly has a connector to split the first tube portion into a second and third tube portion, the second tube portion in fluid communication with a first catheter to aspirate particles through the first catheter and the third tube portion in fluid communication with a second catheter to aspirate particles through the second catheter.

Claims

1. An aspiration system comprising:

a housing containing an aspiration pump and a chamber enclosed within the housing to receive aspirated particles within the housing;

a collection bag outside of and in fluid communication with the chamber; and

a tubing assembly including a first tube portion connected to the chamber, the tubing assembly having a connector to split the first tube portion into a second and third tube portion, the second tube portion connectable to and in fluid communication with a first catheter to aspirate particles through the first catheter into the second tube portion and the third tube portion connectable to and in fluid communication with a second catheter positioned within the first catheter to aspirate particles through the second catheter into the third tube portion, the first and second tube portions having distal openings spaced axially along a longitudinal axis of the first catheter.

2. The aspiration system of claim 1, wherein the connector comprises a T-fitting connected to an input end of the first tube portion and communicating with an output end of the second tube portion and an output end of the third tube portion.

The aspiration system of claim 1, wherein the chamber has an input port to receive aspirated particles from the first tube portion and an output port to transport aspirated particles from the chamber into the collection bag, and a tube separate from the first tube portion interposed between the chamber and collection bag.

4. The aspiration system of claim 1, wherein the collection bag is contained in a shipping configuration of the system is in a flattened position underneath a base of the housing to provide a portable compact unit.

5. The aspiration system of claim 1, wherein the system includes a controller and when backpressure in the collection bag exceeds a predetermined amount as the bag becomes fuller, the controller will transmit a signal to the pump to shut off the pump.

6. The aspiration system of claim 1, further comprising an indicator to provide an indication to the user that the collection bag is full based on measured back pressure.

7. The aspiration system of claim 1, further comprising a non-conductive shipping tab, the shipping tab removable to complete a circuit to enable actuation of the pump.

8. The aspiration system of claim 1, wherein at least a portion of the first tube portion is positioned underneath a base of the housing in a shipping configuration of the system.

9. The aspiration system of claim 8, wherein in the shipping configuration of the system, the collection bag is positioned underneath a portion of the first tube portion.

10. The aspiration system of claim 1, further comprising a first valve connected with the second tube portion and a second valve connected with the third tube portion, the first and second valves selectively actuable to enable fluid flow through the respective tube portion.

11. An aspiration system comprising:

a housing containing an aspiration pump and a chamber enclosed within the housing, the housing having a top portion and a base;

a tubing assembly;

in a shipping configuration of the system the tubing assembly has a first tube wrapped in a wound configuration and at least a portion of the first tube is positioned underneath the base, the first tube dimensioned to transport aspirated particles to the chamber in the housing, and a second tube, the second tube wrapped in a wound configuration and at least a portion of the second tube is positioned underneath the base, the second tube dimensioned to transport aspirated particles from the chamber; and

a collection bag, the second tube interposed between the chamber and the collection bag, the collection bag positioned underneath the portion of the first tube in the shipping configuration.

12. The aspiration system of claim 11, wherein the tubing assembly includes a third tube and a fourth tube, each connected to the first tube.

13. The aspiration system of claim 12, wherein the first tube has a split connector to separately connect with the third and fourth tubes.

14. The aspiration system of claim 12, further comprising a first valve connected with the second tube and a second valve connected with the third tube, the first and second valves selectively actuable to enable fluid flow through the respective tube.

15. The aspiration system of claim 11, further comprising a power pack positioned within the housing.

The aspiration system of claim 11, wherein the chamber has an input port to receive aspiration particles and an output port to transport aspirated particles from the chamber into the collection bag, and in the shipping configuration, the first tube is connected to enable flow to the chamber in subsequent use and the second tube is connected to enable flow to the collection bag in subsequent use.
