1. An intravaginal urinary incontinence device comprising an anchoring portion and a working portion which is a stent comprising an elastic material and having a longitudinal axis and comprising at least three longitudinally extending struts, each of which is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis, each of which at least partially extends in and at least partially defines either a first or a second generally parallel opposed face, wherein the first and second generally parallel opposed faces are separated by a space, and wherein the working portion has an insertion equivalent diameter measured as a maximum distance between the opposed faces ranging from about 10 to about 20 mm, and a use equivalent diameter measured as a maximum distance between the opposed faces that is greater than the insertion equivalent diameter and ranges from about 20 to about 35 mm under an expansion pressure of about 20 to about 150 cm H2O, wherein a withdrawal element extends from the working portion, and wherein the working portion and anchoring portion are a uni-body construction.
