1. An anti-theft device for protecting a portable electronic device from theft or unauthorized removal, comprising:
- a shroud configured to be coupled to the portable electronic device; and
a dock configured to releasably engage the shroud such that the shroud and the portable electronic device are locked to the dock when engaged with the dock and such that the portable electronic device cannot be removed from the dock,wherein the dock comprises a lock mechanism, the lock mechanism comprising a plurality of fingers configured to extend and retract relative to the dock to engage and disengage the shroud,wherein the dock is configured to electrically communicate with the portable electronic device while the shroud is in engagement with the dock.

A key may engage activate a lock mechanism to release the shroud and the portable electronic device from the dock.

coupling a shroud to a portable electronic device; and releasably engaging the shroud with a dock such that the shroud and the portable electronic device are locked to the dock when engaged with the dock and such that the portable electronic device cannot be removed from the dock, wherein the dock comprises a lock mechanism, the lock mechanism comprising a plurality of fingers configured to extend and retract relative to the dock to engage and disengage the shroud, wherein the dock is configured to electrically communicate with the portable electronic device while the shroud is in engagement with the dock.
