1. A method for providing a dashboard for a building control system including a plurality of devices connected over a network located in a laboratory, comprising:

  • receiving environmental data and device data at the plurality of devices;

    creating a dashboard framework for the building control system, wherein the dashboard framework is configured to link the plurality of devices to a plurality of gadgets from a library of the dashboard framework over the network, wherein the plurality of gadgets are configured to monitor the plurality of devices using the environmental data and the device data and provide operational control over the plurality of devices via the network to an end user using a physical device that displays the dashboard framework to the end user;

    configuring a dashboard setting for the dashboard framework, configuring the dashboard setting including;

    pulling the environmental data and the device data over the network from the plurality of devices;

    providing at least one structure grid;

    obtaining one or more gadgets from the plurality of gadgets located in the library for showing information relating to the plurality of devices of the building control system;

    placing the one or more gadgets on the at least one structure grid to define one or more dashboards customized to the laboratory; and

    performing object model navigation on the customized one or more dashboards to view a dashboard from the customized one or more dashboards corresponding to an object model in accordance with an object model hierarchy;

    downloading the dashboard framework to the physical device viewable in the laboratory;

    wherein the one or more customized dashboards include at least one generic gadget configured to be customizable by the end user in response to a user input;

    wherein the one or more customized dashboards include a gadget from the one or more gadgets that provide actionable data about one or more devices from the plurality of devices that enable the end user to take steps to support energy reduction initiatives, optimize operations, safety reports and compliance reporting, and act on other one or more items; and

    wherein at least some of the actionable data display energy usage for a room-level device in an equivalent amount of fuel or carbon emissions.
