Abstract

Percutaneously advanced, distally into tissue of a subject, are (i) an implant, including an electrode and an anchor, and (ii) a tool. The tool includes an implant-storage member that houses the implant, and shaped to define a distal opening, and (b) a delivery manipulator, configured to facilitate bidirectional movement of the implant through the distal opening. Subsequently, the anchor and the electrode are exposed from the implant-storage member by withdrawing the implant-storage member proximally with respect to the implant. While the anchor and the electrode remain exposed from the implant-storage member, the implant is repositioned within the tissue by moving the implant, the implant-storage member, and the delivery manipulator with respect to the tissue. Subsequently, the tool is decoupled from the implant, and the tool is removed from the subject. Other embodiments are also described.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

percutaneously advancing, distally into tissue of a subject;

an implant, including an electrode and an anchor, and

a tool including;

an implant-storage member that houses the implant, and shaped to define a distal opening, and

a delivery manipulator, configured to facilitate bidirectional movement of the implant through the distal opening;

subsequently, exposing the anchor and the electrode from the implant-storage member by withdrawing the implant-storage member proximally with respect to the implant;

while the anchor and the electrode remain exposed from the implant-storage member, repositioning the implant within the tissue by moving the implant, the implant-storage member, and the delivery manipulator with respect to the tissue; and

subsequently, decoupling the tool from the implant, and removing the tool from the subject.

2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising, subsequently to the step of exposing the anchor and the electrode, while the anchor and the electrode remain exposed from the implant-storage member:

driving the implant to drive the electrode to apply a current to the tissue; and

detecting a response, to the current, of a physiological parameter of the subject, wherein repositioning the implant comprises repositioning the implant in response to the detected response.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein withdrawing the implant-storage member proximally with respect to the implant comprises withdrawing the implant-storage member proximally with respect to the tissue while holding the implant still with respect to the tissue.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein decoupling the tool from the implant comprises further withdrawing the implant-storage member with respect to the implant such that the implant is entirely exposed from the implant-storage member.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein repositioning the implant within the tissue comprises moving the implant, the implant-storage member, and the delivery manipulator proximally with respect to the tissue.

6. The method according to claim 1, wherein the implant includes an implant body having a lateral surface, and wherein the step of percutaneously advancing comprises percutaneously advancing the implant into the tissue while the anchor is disposed against the lateral surface.

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein the electrode is a distal electrode, and the implant further includes a proximal electrode, and wherein:

exposing the anchor and the electrode from the implant-storage member comprises exposing the anchor, the distal electrode, and the proximal electrode, from the implant-storage member, and

repositioning the implant comprises repositioning the implant while the anchor, the distal electrode, and the proximal electrode remain exposed from the implant-storage member.

8. The method according to claim 1, wherein the anchor is a self-expanding anchor, and wherein exposing the anchor from the implant-storage member comprises exposing the anchor from the implant-storage member such that the anchor expands in response to becoming exposed from the implant-storage member.
