1. An electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE) system configured to be disposed within an outdoor plug enclosure, comprising:
- an EVSE case;
a power cord attached to an EVSE case;
a relay positioned within the EVSE case; and
a controller positioned within the EVSE case and in communication with the relay, the controller responsive to a pilot duty signal, when a pilot duty signal is present;
wherein the EVSE case includes a front plug face, a rear face, and left and right gripping sides that collectively define a trapezoidal prism cross section, the left and right gripping sides having left and right convex gripping portions, respectively, and further tapered such that a portion of the power cord can be positioned adjacent to the EVSE case within an encompassing outdoor plug enclosure;
wherein the encompassing outdoor plug enclosure includes an outdoor protective cover defining an expanding storage space between an interior of the outdoor protective cover and an exterior of the EVSE case, the expanding storage space providing space for a portion of said power cord to be positioned adjacent to the EVSE case, wherein the power cord is configured to extend out from said protective cover of the encompassing outdoor plug enclosure when the protective cover is closed.
