Pressure resistant conductive fluid containment
First Claim
1. A system for use with a wearable defibrillator worn by a patient, the system comprising:
- an electrode;
a source of pressurized fluid;
a container configured to contain a conductive fluid, the container having an outlet;
an inflatable pouch, at least a portion of the pouch being located within the container, the pouch located within the container such that when the pouch is in a deflated state the pouch covers the outlet, the pouch in the deflated state thus preventing the conductive fluid contained by the container from flowing out of the container through the outlet; and
a controller configured to control selective delivery of the pressurized fluid from the source of pressurized fluid to the inflatable pouch, and in whichthe pouch is configured to become inflated from the deflated state responsive to the pressurized fluid being thus delivered from the source of pressurized fluid, andwhen the pouch becomes thus inflated, the pouch changes shape such that the pouch no longer covers the outlet and the contained conductive fluid is thus no longer prevented from thus flowing out of the container through the outlet near the electrode.

Abstract
A conductive fluid reservoir can be used to dispense conductive fluid to increase electrical connectivity between an electrode of a defibrillator and a patient. The reservoir includes a container that holds the conductive fluid, one or more outlets on the container, and an inflatable pouch located at least partially within the container. The inflatable pouch is capable of being inflated from a deflated state to an inflated state. In the deflated state, a free end of the inflatable pouch covers the one or more outlets. In the inflated state, the free end of the inflatable pouch is removed from the one or more outlets such that the conductive fluid is allowed to flow out of the container via the one or more outlets. Inflating the inflatable pouch causes the conductive fluid to be dispensed from the reservoir.

12. A system for use with a wearable device configured to provide external defibrillation and/or external pacing therapy to a patient wearing the device, the system comprising:
-
an electrode configured to be coupled to the wearable device, a source of pressurized fluid; a container containing a conductive fluid, the container having an outlet configured to allow at least a portion of the conductive fluid to flow toward the electrode; a pouch having at least a portion located within the container such that when the pouch is in a deflated state the pouch covers the outlet preventing the conductive fluid contained by the container from flowing out of the container through the outlet; and a controller configured to control the source of pressurized fluid to deliver pressurized fluid to inflate the pouch and cause the pouch to change shape such that the outlet is uncovered and at least a portion of the conductive fluid is no longer prevented from flowing out of the container through the outlet. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)

21. A system for use with a wearable device configured to provide external defibrillation and/or external pacing therapy to a patient wearing the wearable device, the system comprising:
-
an electrode configured to be coupled to the wearable device; means for providing pressurized fluid; container means for containing a conductive fluid, the container means having an outlet for allowing at least a portion of the conductive fluid to flow toward the electrode; pouch means, having at least a portion located within the container means, for covering an outlet of the container means when the pouch means is in a deflated state and uncovering the outlet when the pouch means is in an inflated state; and control means for causing the means for providing pressurized fluid to deliver pressurized fluid to inflate the pouch means and enable at least a portion of the conductive fluid to flow out of the container means through the outlet.
