1. A method, comprising:

  • moving a movable element of an exercise machine from a first position at a first time to a second position at a second time by an exerciser, wherein the movable element moves in a reciprocating manner, wherein the exercise machine includes a sensor that continuously detects a position of the movable element between the first position and the second position, wherein the sensor transmits real-time position data proportional to the position of the movable element, wherein the exercise machine further includes a processor in communication with the sensor to receive position data from the sensor related to a position of the movable element, wherein the processor is adapted to calculate a state of the movable element based on the position data received in real-time, and wherein the exercise machine further includes a feedback device in communication with the processor, wherein the processor controls the feedback device to provide real-time instruction to the exerciser on the exercise machine on how to adjust their workout; and

    providing feedback via the feedback device to the exerciser on how to adjust their workout.
