1. A portable eye tracker device comprising:

  • a frame adapted for wearing by a user;

    at least one illuminator configured to selectively illuminate at least a portion of at least one eye of the user;

    at least one image sensor configured to capture first image data representing images of at least a portion of at least one eye of the user;

    a scene camera facing away from the user and configured to capture second image data representing images of at least a portion of a view of the user; and

    a control unit configured to;

    control the at least one illuminator for selective illumination of at least a portion of the at least one eye of the user;

    receive the first image data from the at least one image sensor;

    determine a gaze target area for the user based at least in part on the first image data;

    determine a distance between an object located within the gaze target area and the portable eye tracker device based at least in part on the second image data;

    cause a video stream from the scene camera to be provided, the video stream comprising;

    a first video feed of an entire field of view of the scene camera, the first video feed being processed at a first quality; and

    a second video feed of a sub-portion of the entire field of view of the scene camera, the second video feed being processed at a second quality that is greater than the first quality, and the sub-portion including the object within the gaze target area; and

    control the scene camera to adjust light sensitivity of the second video feed based at least in part on the distance between the object within the gaze target area and the portable eye tracker device.
