1. A rodent containment rack comprising:

  • a first cage mount assembly and a second cage mount assembly;

    a rodent containment cage for containing a rodent, engaged with and in contact with the first cage mount assembly and the second cage mount assembly;

    an air supply and air exhaust system in connection with the cage;

    a system comprising one or more processors, a controller, or combinations thereof and a data storage device;

    a remotely read viral or bacterial sensor disposed within an interior volume of the cage at a position apart from the air supply and air exhaust system of the rack, wherein the viral or bacterial sensor monitors the presence or level of viruses or bacteria within a cage interior and communicates a reading from the sensor to the system;

    a detectable identifier on the cage; and

    a reader attached to the first cage mount assembly and a reader attached to the second cage mount assembly, wherein the reader attached to the first cage mount assembly or the reader attached to the second cage mount assembly is configured to detect the identifier;

    wherein the remotely read viral or bacterial sensor and the reader configured to detect the identifier are in association with the system which is configured to remotely receive and process data from the remotely read viral or bacterial sensor and the reader configured to detect the identifier and associate data from the remotely read viral or bacterial sensor and the reader configured to detect the identifier.
